The story that I created for myself was one of negativity & pain. I always looked at the world & myself through the lens of a victim. When I was only 11 years old, I was in a car accident where I herniated 2 discs in my lower back. Unfortunately, they didn’t know as much about injury rehabilitation then as they do now. So, I suffered in silence.
The pain changed who I was. Outwardly, I was still sunshine, rainbows & positivity, but inside I was fearful & hurting both physically & mentally. I found myself looking for “self-help” tools as I struggled with my sense of self. Then my friend gave me her copy of the book, “The Secret”. I still have a copy on my bookshelf, just in case I need to share it. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of the book, it all leads to manifesting the life of your dreams.
The first seed had been planted & I began to rewrite my story. I saw how powerful my thoughts & words are as I manifested money, jobs, cars & even relationships. Things were going great, but I learned that I was only manifesting outwardly & I really needed to focus on what was happening within. So, I did what I did best; I researched. I learned everything I could about happiness & positivity. I learned all the toll then I practiced. I reached within over & over again, learning that this is all part of the journey.
This leads up to me listening to yet another self-development audiobook. But this book was different. It hit home. The book was Jen Sincero’s “You Are a Badass”. While listening to Jen tell it like it is, I started thinking – “I can do this!” I got it in my head that all my skills & knowledge combined would make me a great life coach. I was rewriting my story again.
Every time I changed how I looked at my life – my perspective – I rewrote my story. I did this many times & continue to do so as I learn & grow. In 2022, I became a certified Life Coach. I learned more tools to rewrite my story & put them together in a course to help others by creating a shortcut to changing their perspective of their life.
When I changed how I told my story – using lessons & becoming aware of how my life was leading me towards my goals – I rewrote who I am through my narrative. Words have the power to shape who you are based off the story that you tell yourself & others.
One of the most powerful tools that you can use is affirmations which we will discuss more in my free workshop on Affirmations.
