What if I told you that having a Failure Mindset is a good thing? Would you believe me? Do you find failure scary? Do you have a strong emotional response to failure?
How is a Failure Mindset a good thing?
We live in a culture that frowns at failure. The idea of failing can freeze people in their tracts & cause failure to turn into not trying at all. Failing can make you feel like a failure when you have a Fixed Mindset. But that is not all there is to it!
What is a Fixed Mindset?
Many people are walking around stuck in their ways. They believe that talent is something you are born with or without. They also believe that intelligence is some that you have or don’t have. A Fixed Mindset is believing that you either have it or you don’t & there is nothing you can do about it.

What else is there?
Far on the other end of the spectrum, is a Growth Mindset. This is the believe that with hard work and dedication, you can get better at anything & that leads to success. Research has actually shown that people without natural talent, but that work extra hard at something, are more likely to succeed.
What about failure?
Failure is a crucial part of success. The key to this is redefining failure…
When you look at failure as simply a chance to learn how not to do something, the whole world opens up to you. Think of it this way, unless you have a natural talent in an area, you will start off by failing. This is great news. You now know one way not to do it. This goes for anything that you are doing.
Failure leads to learning, learning leads to improvement in skills (or natural talent), so by learning from our mistakes & embracing the Failure Mindset, we are much more likely to have much success.
