Eat what makes you happy

Food is a tricky subject. Everyday, I get a bunch of messages from my mom about the latest new health information. So, what should you eat?

The short answer is to eat what makes you happy.

But what makes us happy? For some people it’s donuts (I’m queen of that parade), for others they eat their feelings, or stress eat. Now, if you fall into the emotional eaters club, ask yourself… does emotionally eating really make you happy?

A donut will satisfy my sweet tooth and man, do I like the way they taste, smell, and feel in my mouth. Yes, I love donuts. But has a donut ever made me…. happy?

The short answer is, no.

But the important thing that I learned when it comes to food, is if it doesn’t taste good, don’t bother.

Eating healthy isn’t about torturing yourself. But, at the same time, food is for fuel. This is where it gets tricky.

You need to find foods that make you happy before, during, and after you eat them. Think food for fuel. Think nutritious and delicious. Think about happy food.
